Cemetery Regulations

An important first step is to make a decision on what cemetery, and section in the cemetery you want your memorial in. The reason for this is that the rules on what is allowed for a memorial vary in each cemetery. If you own the lot you will be able to get a clear understanding of what is allowed, so then you can have your memorial designed and created.

From our experience, all cemeteries require a cement foundation under all memorials except flat grass markers. Foundations are usually four feet deep, in some cemeteries they require it to be five feet deep. The foundation can be the same size as the base of your memorial or a few inches larger. This is determined by the regulations of the cemetery. A foundation must be level and is an important part of maintaining the appearance of your memorial over the years.
