The first step necessary in choosing a solid surface countertop material for your kitchen or bathroom is to create a drawing of your space. This should be done from a bird’s eye view and should include measurements. Please include the location of your appliances, walls, and end panels. You should also factor in overhang and reflect that in your drawing. Your initial price estimate will be based on your drawing, so please try to be as accurate as possible. Once you have your drawing completed, we invite you to come to our showroom to discuss possible stone choices for your project. We are constantly checking our vendors for the best prices on stone so it may take us one or two days to get your estimate to you. The cost of a solid surface countertop is based on a square foot price. Color and availability lead to variations in price. We can give you a sense of the price range of different stones while you are visiting the showroom. Once you have your estimate, if you decide to proceed, we will schedule a time to complete a template. When the template has been completed, we can give you the actual price of the countertop. After receiving your 60% deposit, we will begin the manufacturing process. Finally, we will install the countertops. The whole process, once you have decided to do the project, takes 2 to 4 weeks. Your final price includes: the material, templating of the whole area, all holes, radius corners, ¾ inch backsplash, crating, sealer, delivery, and mounting your sink to the stone. It does not include: the removal of the old countertops or any plumbing, electrical, or carpentry work that needs to be done. We can help you coordinate these services using some of our subcontractors. In order for your template to be completed, your old countertops have to be removed. Most people choose to set the old countertop back on top of the cabinets and reconnect the plumbing so they have the use of their kitchen while waiting for the new countertop. If you have new cabinets, you can make a small temporary counter out of plywood and use your new sink and faucet while waiting for your stone job to be completed. The template is a vital part of the countertop purchasing process and takes several hours to complete depending on the size and complexity of the project. We ask the customer to be present during this period of time. Questions on positioning and shaping will come up. Fixtures such as the sink, faucet, soap dispenser, sprayer, and all appliances must be there at the time of the template. Of course, all cabinets and end panels also need to be installed for us to get the most accurate measurements. Once the template is completed, a final price can be determined. The process of completing the template is included in your price. Once the final price is determined, a contract is drawn up. We also complete a drawing showing the shape and specifications of the project. A 60% deposit is required before we start the manufacturing process. The balance is then due upon completion of the installation. The entire process can take from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the availability of the material and the time of year.
